SALES LADY for a WEEK

It feels like forever to write in here. It's been three long days since Monday that I have not put something new in this page. It feels like eternity though. It's definitely weird in some way. I miss this. I miss having to express myself through writing. It's the only way I'm at ease because this is how counsel myself. It's my drug or anti - drug, whatever fits better.

So, the real reason for my absence is that I have been busy being a sales lady at Limketkai. I know what you're thinking but it's not it. I'm not at the Department Store. And no, I don't sell kids apparel. I will and am spending the whole week until Fiesta which is up to the 28th, Sunday in Limketkai selling local produce. The whole activity is named Kahimunan. It's a yearly tradition of Department of Trade and Industry Region X to put on display various assisted Micro Small and Medium Enterprises or MSMEs' products. It's a gigantic venue where harvests from Misamis Oriental, Misamis Occidental, Lanao, Bukidnon are featured. I happened to be the "tindera" in the Riches of Misamis Oriental.

Me in my beloved booth

Coco Sugar from Coconut Sap or Tuba from Balingasag & Gingoog
The red wine LOMBOY version of El Salvador.
Corn Coffee. All Natural. Laguindingan
Mis-Or Products
The fastest selling bottled product. GINAMOS! Libertad.
This is all you have to have to do Kinilaw the right way! CDO!
This is by far the chilliest chilli sauce I've ever tasted. wow! CDO!
Sardines paired with hot rice..delicious! from OPOL.

Two years ago, I was in the same scenario trying my hardest to make new products known to people and hopefully get them sold. The fact is, I'm not a marketer. I'm not good in selling. I don't have what you call P.R. It's a bit difficult because you really don't know if what your doing is good enough. I mean I think I did ok but is my comfort zone a passing grade to the world of business? Quite frankly, I'm not even convinced myself. Sure, it's easy to just be there and watch out for customers but to have them buy your product even if they just seen it for the first time is excellent marketing.

Very Famous Pastel from Camiguin.

Lanao Products

More from Lanao

I was never a fan of Suman until I tried this. From Mis-Occ.

I don't want to even begin enumerating that side of the business because clearly I am in no position. What I like about doing this type of thing is that even though it's trivial, you get to see people and how they respond to new stuff in the market. Usually, couples or families stroll the mall. And more than half probably, it's the wife who gets to decide to buy or not to buy. Sometimes, it's the men. Oh yes, men spend too. The slight difference perhaps is men are firmer when it comes to deciding. When they like something they buy it. Women are more cautious and they tend to come back after a few rounds (or not at all) at other produce. It's quite interesting to learn.

This is really heavy, even the cover.

Made in Bukidnon

My neighboring booth.

It's like one in those Flintstones movies

scary.

I feel like in some cult.

Another wicked chair.

People really like these?

There was this man. He was around his 30's, maybe 35, I think, tall, slender and well, handsome. And he was just the normal type of guy. He wore fitting shirt, with shades of gray, easy jeans matched with a converse shoes. He was a cool dad, I assumed. He was followed by his kid around 10 years old eating, feeling secured, just silent. From his appearance, I'm pretty sure he was of good breeding. They were walking around and as I leaned back, I saw him stopped at the pottery store. It was a cool store. In fact, I bought two enormous mugs earlier that day in that booth. They sell rustic designed ceramics. I was amazed at how one guy would be so interested in that type of area. He doesn't even look the part. He stayed their for about almost an hour, choosing plates! Yes. Plates, but awesome plates.

How cool are these?
Butterflies! cute!

I can really imagine myself in this environment everyday.

What do you not love about bargains?

MOREEEEE...

This was the exact store that guy checked out.

Candle Holders

Cute Little things

For the kitchen..my kitchen..

You really wouldn't expect in people. There are some things that you can't put a period on because you'll never would have imagined it is possible when the reality is that is and it happens. Maybe I just found it pretty odd that any guy these days would have a sense of artistry even if he doesn't look like one. Well, perhaps he will give it as a gift to his wife or just personal gratification. Nonetheless, I feel good seeing variations. He's not the typical guy. I like that.

I found their outfits fairy -like! My neighbors too. Malunggay Pastel.

This one on the center could very well be in my closet anytime.

Doll Fever

This one is good.

Good for the health.

Gingoog Romblon Bags

Nice lamp!

As for me, I still have four days to go until my last day in the booth. Sometimes it gets boring when there are less people checking your shelf. I would feel tempted to close my eyes in that instance but I keep myself up and look at different personalities. It's a good venue to meet new people and interact with them. I know I am never meant for the grandeur of trade but we'll never know. My life isn't a period yet. Neither are yours for that matter.

  2. It's an interest, to see and know what the locals are up to. Local produce that is unique to that area is always a great way of inviting people to come and see whats on offer apart from just the place itself...

    Congratulations & well done...
