PARTY+PARTY+PARTY

All morning, I haven't done a single bit of household chore. Everything is still in so far chaotic around the house. Our helper has not come back from her excursion in their barrio yet. She said she'll be coming in today but still no sign of her.

I have been bugging my head for a couple of days now analyzing and perpetuating about Dwayne's upcoming 1st Bday Bash. I'm quite excited at the same time apprehensive. It's my first time to host a party for my kid or any party in particular because I'm  really not the type to do gatherings. Will people come to this event? Will the food be enough? Will the little kiddie games I entrusted my sister be successful? Will it bring smiles to the kids faces? The pressure of pleasing my guests is on top of everything else. I am to the point of panic. So many things to consider. I don't know where to begin.

I have come up with one cure at least to ease some of the tension I'm feeling. I've decided to browse some of the preparations and to do list that other moms have already accomplished with their kids parties. I googled some of the most important things I should have during that celebration.

First of, I think cakes are one of the main attractions for birthday parties. It's tradition, no question to that. So, I found some of these over the Internet and realized they could be good starting point for my kid's planned party.

Sesame Street Theme. Nice!

All sorts of sports ball. Super cool!
Jungle Animals with stars! Uber nice!

Or cupcakes because they look cute and are in right now.

There are also other kiddie stuff that must be sorted out like their spoons, forks and glasses, party hats, loot bags and more.

And I don't even have a theme yet. I didn't know throwing parties was such huge work. Everything has to be color coordinated and replicated over cartoons on TV. If I would recall my childhood, it was way simpler then. The morning of my special day, my parents decided I'd buy a cake of my choice. I was thrilled. We headed to our local bakeshop. Me and my father went together in his bike and he then let me look over four different kinds of coated cakes. I chose the one that had chocolate covering with bits of nuts on top. Of course it had to be chocolate! I thought that was so yummy. After I picked, it was then covered with a brown paper which was mounted by toothpicks around and in the center of the cake so it won't get sticky on our way home. That was it. I was happy.

Now, things have definitely changed. A new kind of practice and tradition has taken over. We are raising a new generation of kids. Challenging but still fun. Hopefully, they will still appreciate the value of being simple in the greater scheme of things.
