We took the route to the wet section first and searched for the freshest fish. We bought about three kinds on little stacks. We didn't want to overdo and get bored eating them in the next days. Then, we purchased Chicken Liver for about Php120/kilo. It's good for your health. It's rich in iron. Next, we ordered some pancit or noodles to add to the recipe plus two packs of veggies for future cooking needs. Nothing is ever complete (in this family) without buying seasonings for Kinilaw. It's uncooked fish washed in coconut sap vinegar and added with some onion, ginger, salt, tabon-tabon, calamansi and suha. (Forgive my lingo, I don't know the English term for the other ingredients.) Since we had the freshest fish, why not add condiments to it, that way we had something a little special even on a budget.
Then, we couldn't resist buying Dwayne his "crocs" shoes along the street still near the market. His feet is getting bigger and he needs new shoes. And for just Php80, we bought him one.
We were already starving by the time we came back home. We had the food prepared by our helper and my father helped as well. I was attending to Dwayne ( he loved his new pair of shoes by the way) and an hour later, we were so ready to eat. Taking full loads of tablespoon food never tasted such sweet victory. I loved every bit of it. And apparently, everybody else did too, including my son.
Life's sweet nothings. That was my morning so far.
