I think I have had an overdose of party planning and party hosting. It's not that I have any complaints because I enjoyed every sweat of it but that I don't think I can maintain any energy anymore if I keep doing it. I'd literally fall apart.
Last September 14, 2011, I had the privilege of preparing and conducting the most awaited 1st ever birthday bash of my most adored son. Needless to say, I was a rookie in that field. No worries, I had supports too. I had my partner, two house helps and family members whom without their presence, would have flunked the whole thing. Indeed, a successful event is not because of one or two persons but of a group of dedicated and committed individuals.
The whole experience had me learned a lot of stuff. I learned to:
1. Never underestimate time. Time is fast and you don't know you're running out of it.
2. Even the most prepared person can still be unprepared in the real event.
3. Food is the most important thing. You must have it before anything else. It's the very reason why people are in your party.
4. You can't be in two places at one. You must assign someone you can rely to do the entertaining if you're out doing something really very important.
5. Try all your logistics and decorations the day before. You might not know when they go crazy and dysfunctional in the day of the occasion.
6. Keep your cool. Even in the most haggard of situation, nothing beats to still be calm and smiling.
7. Wear a nice outfit before the party. You might forget all throughout and your pictures are already taken.
8. Talk to each of your guest. Give at least a minute or two to ask if they need anything or if they are comfortable in their position.
9. For crying out loud, take a good the night sleep before the party. You need all the energy you can get.
10. The birthday celebrant must be taken well cared of, after all, he should be the king in his own party.
Overall, I think it went well.
Big thanks to all who came and all who wish they did.
