Getting a TATTOO?

What's with tattoos????

Clearly I'm left behind when it comes to this new found art intervention happening. I believe everyone I know or at least almost all of them either have already been inked and are getting one some time in the future. It's crazy but also the hard truth.

Taken from tattoo history accounts:

"the word tattoo is said to have two major derivations- from
the polynesian word ‘ta’ which means striking something
and the tahitian word ‘tatau’ which means ‘to mark something’.

the history of tattoo began over 5000 years ago and is as
diverse as the people who wear them.

tattoos are created by inserting colored materials beneath
the skins surface. the first tattoos probably were created
by accident. someone had a small wound, and rubbed it
with a hand that was dirty with soot and ashes from the fire.
once the wound had healed, they saw that a mark stayed
permanently."

Or for more info check out Wikipedia on Tattoing.

So, those are just the basic facts regarding the fundamentals of this type of body art.

My personal take on the matter? It's really just about the preference of the person, a self expression dare I say. But as to me getting one, I'll have to think a hundred times over because having a permanent mark on my body leaves no room for error or just a blow in the wind. It has to be a decision for life. And to think I am fickle with almost anything.

  1. I had a henna tattoo last December 2011 because I joined this party with this Asian Oriental Theme thingy. Yeah, I won the best in costume male category. However, it seems like it turned into a real one or lemme' say, a permanent tattoo since i had a cumulative reaction that resulted to skin blisters and itchiness. I never thought it would turned out this way since I've been putting henna tattoos on my body ever since. My derma told me that the only way to remove this is to have a skin peel off surgery like WTF! Now, I learned my lesson. Geez!

    Nice articles anyways.
